"We've successfully done the experiment for enrichment of uranium and it has entered the final stage."

North Korea said Friday that it's entered the final phase of gaining uranium-enrichment capability and plans to build more plutonium bombs, reports said Friday. The advance would offer the nation a second way to make nuclear weapons material, in addition to its known plutonium-based program, Reuters reported.

"We've successfully done the experiment for enrichment of uranium and it has entered the final stage," South Korea's Yonhap news agency reported, citing a North Korean statement covered by the Communist state's media. "We are also finalizing the reprocessing of the spent fuel rods, and the plutonium extracted are being weaponized," it said. The delegation also warned of further nuclear deterrence should the U.N. Security Council "put sanctions first before dialogue," reports said.
